Our 13th Anniversary

Joe and I celebrated our 13th anniversary this July.  We spent the day/night downtown Chicago.  It was perfect!  We headed in midafternoon and had an early dinner at Petterino's.  Then we walked the Riverwalk to get to the pier where our sunset cruise was docked.  The boat was huge, but quite crowded.  We got on early enough to find seats on the top deck, but this proved to be our downfall as there was some pretty horrible music blasting right at us all evening long.  We finally (as in 30 min before the cruise ended) decided we couldn't take it anymore and headed downstairs.  Too bad we had waited so long!  We were still able to enjoy being outdoors on the lowest level and it was QUIET!  The sunset was beautiful with the city skyline in the background.

We were pleasantly surprised by the nicely renovated rooms!

We spent the nice in a really nice room at the Congress Hotel, overlooking Grant Park and the Buckingham Fountain.  In the morning, we walked around a bit and then headed to Gino's East-South.  For whatever reason, we walked around and around in circles trying to find this location:)   We were shocked to find out that my personal cheese pizza was only going to cost FIFTY CENTS.  Yes, you read that correctly....FIFTY CENTS!  They had a fundraising deal on Tuesdays all summer long.  I know I've always been a pretty cheap date, but wow!
