This year, we tried teaching Juliana about the meaning of Easter (which is pretty hard to do without being over the head of a 3 year old!) Tonight as I was putting her to bed, she chose to read the story of Easter book to me. Here's how it went:
Jesus is alive!
Jesus shared his bread but not with the rivals. ( I had to clarify that yes, Jesus would share his bread with everyone, EVEN the "rivals" (her words, not mine!) because he loves everyone even if they are not nice to him.)
The rivals took Jesus away.
The passengers (???) watched him.
He had to carry a big stick.
It is nighttime. His friends are sleeping. Jesus prayed.
Then the rivals took him. His friends were sad.
An angel came and said Jesus is ALIVE, ALIVE, ALIVE!
Not bad for a 3 year old, huh? So cute!
