Spotlight Theater Camp

We had heard about the Spotlight Theater group from some friends from church.  It is a Christian-based theater organization in the Chicago/Wisconsin area.  Juliana and I went to see one of their shows (Tarzan) this spring and were REALLY impressed.  You have to be 8 years old and taking one of their classes to audition for their shows, but she is hoping to be able to do that this winter!  She and a friend from preschool (Delaney) took a one-week Broadway Kids summer camp this week.  I was thoroughly impressed with the way the camp was run.  Juliana had a blast each day.  The last day was a showcase performance for families/friends.  It was very well done. It's amazing how much the kids learned in just 5 days! All in all, I think Juliana learned 5 complete songs.  Plus, Juliana received 3 solo parts: 2 singing and 1 speaking part, which was more than many of the other younger kids. Here are a few pictures and videos from the showcase. She made us so proud!

"9 to 5" from the Musical 9 to 5 (group number)

solo in "Forget About the Boy" from Thoroughly Modern Millie

"Carrying the Banner" from Newsies

solo in "We Go Together" from Grease

Her funny "rubber chicken line"
