Halloween is also one of those holidays that keeps getting extended and extended like Christmas! There were costume parties and trick or treating for WEEKS before the actual day. Then it seems like a let-down to me on the real Halloween. But I guess it's reason enough to wear their costumes a few more times :)
This year, we had a dinosaur/dragon and Pinkalicious, complete with pink hair and face, roaming about! I do have to say that both kids looked super cute in their costumes!!
We went trick or treating with friends at Safety Town (a little kid-sized village) in Naperville 2 weeks before Halloween.
The next day, we went to a new pumpkin farm called Abbey Farms with Katie, Brian, Madelyn and Grandpa G. It is run by the monks at the Marmion Abbey. It was SOO nice. Not over-the-top like a few we've been to, but not just thrown together either. There was a lot to see and do, and we wish we had more time there. (Plus, we should have listened to Juliana and picked our pumpkins when we got there instead of on the way out, because there were none left!) We went in some teepees, rode trikes, saw LOTS of tractors (and tried our best to pry Connor off of them!), did some jumpy things, went in the mini-corn maze, took a hay ride, and just barely saw a few animals as they were being loaded back onto the truck at the end of the day. We can't wait to go back next year. This one's a keeper!
We had planned to go to a couple more events as well, but it just didn't work out. The kids had a costume parade and party at their school (I didn't get there in time, so no pics :( After school, they had a blast trick or treating around our own block with Madelyn, Katie and Brian, though Juliana thought the little ones, especially Madelyn were WAY too slow! Just get the candy and run, girl! She'll learn :). They also liked handing out candy!
We made ghost lanterns out of milk jugs.
Connor and Juliana trying on Mommy's Pete the Cat shoes (I think they look way better on the kids, right?)
oh, and neither one has touched a piece of their candy! (weird, but we're not complaining!)
Happy Halloween!
