For Juliana's 10th birthday, I tried to find something singing related. I contacted a bunch of local recording studios to see if they could accommodate a karaoke birthday party and they were wonderful about it! I chose a local recording studio right downtown Aurora, Gremlen Studios. The owner, Sam, said he has done parties a couple times but he doesn't advertise them like he maybe should! The kids had the whole downstairs studio (a large performance room, a sound booth and a couple smaller rooms.) It was perfect!
cupcake stand out of old records
microphone cake pop cupcakes They were adorable until all the cake pops got too heavy and fell out, LOL!
We kept things low-key with pizza and some fun music-themed sweet treats. Plenty of sugar to get their energy rocking!
the old-school "whistle pops" were a huge hit!
"happy birthday?"
pixie stix "drumsticks"
Kit Kat piano and Oreo records
Some of the girls took awhile to warm up to the idea of "performing,"
but eventually everyone got in on the fun! They sang to karaoke tracks
and Sam recorded everything! It was a blast. Juliana even got to
record a song of her own in the actual sound booth. She was super
nervous to do it, but I'm sure it was a cool experience:)
the drums were a big hit
she was so nervous! I'm sure she would have liked a chance to practice first
We brought some door fringe to hang on the wall as a backdrop/photo op.
the moon walk!
even Joe found something to entertain him
The girls' goodie bags included an Emoji cup, microphone lip gloss, emoji erasers, Pop Rocks candy (personalized with their names), a mini squishy keychain, and a microphone prop. They also could take home a hat and each girl got a cd from the recording session, starring themselves!
