Spring Break 2015

This year, Juliana and I had the same spring break!  We took advantage by taking a lot of "staycations" close to home.  Here's what we were up to that week.

Monday:   We met Grandma, Grandpa, Katie, Madelyn and Allison downtown Naperville for lunch at Lou Malnati's (Connor's favorite refashioned fire station-turned pizza place).  Then, we headed to see the movie "Home."

Tuesday:  All of us headed to Chicago to visit the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.  I had been 10 years ago on a field trip and loved the butterfly haven.  But there were lots of other fun activities for the kids as well!

Wednesday:  Grandpa accompanied us to Go Bananas (an indoor amuzement place).  It turned out to be a highlight of the week for both kids!  Connor LOVED the roller coaster...I think he made Grandpa go on it 6 times in a row at least.  Juliana enjoyed a couple of the rides (NOT the roller coaster) and I eventually convinced her to do the bumper cars with me at the very end.  She preferred the arcade games and the prizes, however.

Thursday:  Joe took the day off and our family headed to Rockford (about an hour and a half drive) to try out the Coco Keys Indoor Water park.  It was a horrible day!  We waited in a CRAZY long line to get in.  Then the kids pool was closed (and remained closed for hours).  The lazy river had about 8 tubes total, so we basically walked around.  It was COLD inside.  The line for the food (we had a $10 food credit) took about an HOUR and they were so unorganized and the food was awful.  There were literally 3 lifeguards in the WHOLE place.  And the "changing rooms" consisted of a 10 foot square area with one small bench.  For HUNDREDS of people.  Needless to say, the day was a bust.  The kids didn't enjoy it at all and were asking to go after about an hour.  Bummer.

Friday:  We had a playdate with the Fry family in the morning.  Then we met Joe for lunch and then met Katie and the girls at Cupcakeologist for some make-you-own ice cream/cupcakes.  Unfortunately, there was a sign on the door saying they were closed and would return shortly.  So we had to wait for 15-20 min.  But the kids just played in the car.  The younger kids enjoyed it greatly, but Juliana had started to feel really sick by this point (she ended up with a high fever for the next 3 days:(

Overall, we really enjoyed our busy week!  We found some new favorite places to visit:)
